ESMOS STATEMENT ON COVID-19
As per those guidelines, ESMOS has implemented the following office protocols, effective Friday, March 13, 2020 until further notice:
Our office remains open to patients, wanting to be seen, with post-operative appointments and urgent orthodpaedic concerns. The office will call to confirm your appointment and conduct a brief screening. You will be asked to reschedule if any of these conditions are present:
Any cold or flu-like symptoms including fever, coughing, sneezing, runny nose and trouble breathing
Recent travel history to nations with high coronavirus activity as listed in the CDC’s travel alerts
Any contact with individuals confirmed or determined to be a “person under investigation” for coronavirus
We encourage voluntarily rescheduling, in hopes of limiting your exposure to other patients. Patients with appointments of a routine matter will be asked to reschedule for a date after March 27, 2020.
While we understand the inconvenience and frustration associated with postponing anticipated appointments, it is our civic responsibility as healthcare providers to protect our patients, employees and the general public. Rest assured, our office staff will work with you to secure your visit at a later date.

It’s becoming clear that social distancing is increasingly critical in slowing the spread of COVID-19. This means avoiding mass gatherings and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others when possible. If you don't need to be in a large public gathering, don't. Across our county and region, schools, religious organizations, and community organizations are putting out recommendations, canceling services or programs, and issuing social distancing guidelines.
Hand Hygiene, Masks* and Personal Protective Equipment
There are simple everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including the coronavirus. These include:
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
The CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a mask to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19. Masks can become contaminated and spread germs when used improperly. Masks should be worn by team members caring for patients with respiratory symptoms.
If you have symptoms, contact your doctor, who can determine whether testing is appropriate.
